2020-21 Registration is now available
Registrations are now open.. However, they are different this year, you must register online through our website [here], if your child has always played for Verner Bulls then you will need to open an account and from there just follow the instructions. If you are having difficulties you can contact registrar@vernerbulls.ca. We will be utilizing the Sturgeon Falls arena this year, in the event that more ice is required they will then open the Verner arena, but for now everything will be in Sturgeon. As some of you may know the arena was set to open October 13th, but do to the increase numbers of COVID cases, the municipality has decided to postpone the opening to October 19th. They have also stated that if the numbers keep climbing, there will be further delays in opening the arena. All practices will be half ice and we are also hoping to have 2 practices per week until games can begin. Games will be 3 on 3 and 4 on 4. There will be very strict guidelines this year and I am asking that everyone do their part. First off if your child or any of the coaching staff is sick, you must stay home. Secondly, we asked that kids arrive at the arena 10 minutes before their start time and be already dressed. You will be able to put skates and helmet on, once in the arena. You must wear a mask in the arena (parents and players). Only 1 parent/guardian is allowed in the arena. No siblings are allowed in the arena, even if they are practicing right after. Each team will need to have someone at the arena 15 minutes before to take attendance and contact numbers (ideally the team manager). Also, this year due to physical distancing rules, we are not able to accept 3-year-old players, unless they have a parent who will be willing to be an on-ice helper. This would actually apply to any child who is not able to stand on their own. Coaches will not be able to support/help these children get up. We are still looking for coaching staff for all levels, if you are interested please go to our website and fill out an Interest in Team Staff form [Here]. If you were part of the coaching staff in the past and would like to continue, please put your name forward. Hockey will be different this year, but all these new rules and guidelines have been put in place so that our children can still enjoy the game, physical activity and help with their mental health. This email may not reach everyone, therefore if you want to forward this email please do so. Do not hesitate to contact me, if you should have any questions. Sincerely, Renee Giguere President VMHA |

VMHA Update / AGM Sept 12, 2020
Hello everyone, This is an update regarding the Verner Minor Hockey Association (VMHA) in light of the circumstances associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. We all have more questions than answers at this time. In trying to fulfil our mandate at the VMHA we have to go with what we know and to prepare as best we can for opportunities that may arise for a normal return to Play! In short
Preparing for the 2020-21 season.. The VMHA will be hosting its Annual General Meeting on Sept 12, 2020 in the parking lot of the Verner Arena. This will not be a banquet - it will be strictly the AGM to set the table for the upcoming season. The AGM was originally scheduled for early April 2020 and was cancelled due to the pandemic. More information will be sent on this. We will need to have a register of the members in attendance at this meeting. We ask that you complete this form to express your intent to attend the AGM. Now more than ever, you are asked to consider being involved as a board member. There are roles on the board that will need to be filled. Additional information regarding this will be communicated shortly. We hope that we will see a return to hockey in our community this season. It will likely be different and with a slower opening approach. Return to regular pre pandemic hockey is the goal but we have to take direction from our governing bodies together with the provincial government and health unit. Options being considered for early return to hockey measures include skills development programming at the start (e.g. sometime in September) to progress to modified game structure (e.g. 3on3 or other formats) later in the fall. Registration will be online only this year. Information will be communicated in the coming weeks. Like with many parts of our personal and community lives in these interesting times, plans are subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control. Kind Regards, Renée Giguère Interim President |
All activities are suspended until further notice
This applies to all games, tournaments, trips, banquets, etc. The OHF and the NOHA support the Hockey Canada statement quoted below:
“HOCKEY CANADA STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)"
CALGARY, Alta. – The following is a statement on behalf of Hockey Canada from Tom Renney, chief executive officer, and Scott Smith, president and chief operating officer, on the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Without question, this an unprecedented period of difficulty for the sports world. The health and safety of all participants in sport, including players, coaches, staff, officials, fans, family, volunteers and the general public, is of the utmost importance to Hockey Canada.
After much consultation with the Hockey Canada membership, our chief medical officer and public health officials, the Hockey Canada Board of Directors has made the decision to cancel all Hockey Canada-sanctioned activities, including our national championships, until further notice, effective Friday, March 13, 2020.
We recognize the tremendous effort that has been put forth all year by individuals across the country as they participate in Canada’s game. Although it is difficult to process the hockey season ending abruptly, we feel this is the best course of action in order to do our part in keeping our country safe.” ”
As such, all Minor Hockey, Junior Hockey and Women's Hockey, including the OHF and Regional Championships and subsequent Hockey Canada sanctioned functions (year-end banquet, etc.) are suspended for the remainder of the season.
Further information will follow as it becomes available. |
